TACA has been administering a Families In Crisis Program since October 2006. Since then, we have granted over $28,000 to 25 families and offered help to all other applicants in a variety of ways: support, occasional pro-bono services, education, and holiday baskets for example. Our program was available to California Families who had reached a financial crisis and had nowhere else to turn.
We are happy to have helped our California Families and hope that we have made a difference in their lives. Now that TACA is a national organization we are happy to announce a partnership to make this type of funding available to families not just in California, but all over the US.
TACA is partnering with Unlocking Autism, The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation, Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation, The Help Group, TalkAutism/Caring Technologies and Autism Speaks. Starting April 1, 2008, together we are expanding the focus of AutismCares to include Catastrophic Life Events. TACA will participate in the process of reviewing applications. See information about the new program and applications.
Moira Giammatteo will be serving on the AutismCares Leadership Committee representing TACA and will participate in the selection of the recipients of these grants. Information on eligibility and grant deadlines can be found on the AutismCares website.
We are proud to have been of service to California families in need, and now we are very happy to join forces within our community to make this much needed resource available nationwide.Contributions: You can make a tax-deductible donation to the TACA Families in Crisis Fund.
